Introduction

The impact of low testosterone on male fertility is well documented (; ). The prevalence of low testosterone has been increasing in recent years. The most common side effects include erectile dysfunction (; ), decreased libido (; ), and erectile dysfunction and low sperm count (; ).

In the treatment of erectile dysfunction and infertility, the most common treatment options are medications like sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis). These medications are effective in treating erectile dysfunction, but they do not address the underlying causes of infertility. The lack of a comprehensive approach to treatment in these cases makes the management of erectile dysfunction and infertility difficult and may even require additional therapies such as vasectomy.

The treatment of infertility can be challenging, especially for those with chronic diseases like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The goal of this review is to summarize current evidence, discuss the latest available research, and highlight the benefits and challenges involved in managing erectile dysfunction and infertility.

Methods

Materials and Methods

We searched the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, and Cochrane database for systematic reviews and systematic reviews of sildenafil, tadalafil, and cialis treatment options. Studies were excluded if they were of unclear source. Studies that reported side effects were included if they were of interest, the type of outcome was reported, and the primary outcome was the quality of the evidence. Additionally, we included studies that investigated the efficacy of sildenafil and tadalafil alone or in combination with other treatment options.

Results

Study Selection

A total of 746 studies were identified. Of these studies, 277 met the inclusion criteria, and of these, 277 were included in the review. Of these, 277 studies included in the review included sildenafil alone, sildenafil and tadalafil alone, sildenafil and tadalafil combined, and sildenafil alone. Only five studies were excluded due to inadequate quality, insufficient studies, and no language-limited language issues.

Study Characteristics

The characteristics of the included studies are shown in. All studies had a mean age of 35.7 (standard deviation [SD], 17.8), and studies included men over 18 years. In all studies, the participants were treated with the treatments for erectile dysfunction and infertility. In one study, the main end-points were the mean age of the participants, the mean duration of infertility, and the mean duration of a significant side effect.

The quality of the included studies was generally low. There were no studies that met all the inclusion criteria. The majority of the studies were small, and included a total of 277 participants, and the majority of the studies included men over 18 years of age. In total, four studies (15.0%) met the inclusion criteria. The other four studies (13.0%) did not meet the inclusion criteria, but reported that they had a higher prevalence of infertility. The prevalence of infertility varied with study design (n=5), but was not statistically significantly different (p=0.15).

Study Advantages

Although the benefits of sildenafil and tadalafil were not explored, the evidence base for these medications in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and infertility was clear, and the findings in the present review are promising. The benefits of sildenafil are well documented, and the prevalence of these medications has been increasing in recent years. Furthermore, these medications may improve quality of life for men with ED, providing hope for couples in a similar way as with sexual dysfunction.

Side Effects

The side effects reported by the studies included in the review were the most common and most frequently reported side effects of sildenafil. The most common side effects were: headache, flushing, nasal congestion, nasal/oral congestion, dyspepsia, back pain, and diarrhea. More than half of the studies reported sexual dysfunction, and less than half reported side effects. Overall, there were three studies that reported side effects: headache, flushing, nasal/oral congestion, and dyspepsia.

The most common side effects included: headache, facial flushing, headache, abdominal pain, indigestion, and dyspepsia. Overall, there were three studies that reported sexual dysfunction; there were five studies that reported side effects. However, there were no studies that reported side effects that were more common or less common.
